New to KUF?

The 2-day Knowledge and Understanding Framework (KUF) training is an innovative learning opportunity for professionals working across criminal justice, health, social care, and voluntary sectors to support people with complex emotional needs, often associated with a diagnosis of 'personality disorder’.

The training, commissioned by His Majesty’s Prison & Probation Service and NHS England through the Offender Personality Disorder Pathway, is led and delivered by regional OPD Pathway partners.

KUF is a fully co-produced and co-facilitated training programme with trainers with lived experience working alongside trainers with clinical/practitioner experience.

Challenge the stigma and culture surrounding people with complex emotional needs.

It does this by:

• Raising awareness of the stigma associated with the diagnosis of ‘personality disorder’
• Setting educational standards
• Guiding strategy
• Influencing policy

• Lived experience of Complex Emotional Needs (or of a diagnosis of personality disorder) is valued in equal measure to work-related experience through authentic coproduction in all aspects of the design, delivery, evaluation, and quality assurance of the KUF training.
• Diversity and accessibility are valued and promoted throughout all aspects of the KUF programmes.
• There is a commitment to be anti-racist, anti-oppressive and inclusive in all aspects of training.

The rollout of the specialist training for staff working for or with the Offender Personality Disorder (OPD) pathway is coordinated by individual regional leads. If you wish to learn more about the training and availability in your region, please refer to our contacts page.
